The Dutch-Flemish Wind Engineering Association was established in 1984 with the aim of promoting the application and further development of wind technology
We seek to achieve this objective by:
1- Establishing communication between people working in the field of wind technology in science, technology, business or government;
2- Serving as a source of information;
3- Organizing symposia on topics related to wind technology.
Wind technology is the technical science that deals with questions about wind effects and possible damage, nuisance or the benefits of wind in the built environment. This requires knowledge of disciplines such as: architecture, meteorology, fluid mechanics, mechanics, engineering and physics.
Some topics that wind technology deals with are:
– Wind load on structures such as buildings, bridges and masts;
– Wind nuisance around buildings;
– Effects of wind on ventilation systems in buildings;
– Wind climate for the generation of wind energy;
– Air pollution near buildings.
